2. Use our online version which can be found here.

Installing Google Play Store on your Kindle Fire

Amazon’s Fire tablets are affordable, user-friendly and great for kids. By installing the Google Play Store on your Kindle Fire, you can access even more apps.

Fire tablets don’t come with Google Play because Amazon has its own app store (called the Amazon Appstore). The apps available on there are developed to work on the distinct software the tablets use.

Fire tablets are based on Android and that means it’s possible to “sideload” Google’s Play Store onto it. It’s not a difficult process, and should be only take 10 minutes.

Please note that while we have written the below guide to help we unfortunately can’t provide support.

Step 1 - Allow APKs

Please note that this process should work for Fire tablets purchased since 2014.

You will have to prepare your Fire device to download and install what are called APK files.

If you have a microSD card inside the tablet, remove it. (The files need to go on the device’s storage, not a memory card, so to avoid any issues, take the card out.)

To allow APK files, open up Settings and go to Security & Privacy>Apps from unknown sources. (Older models might instead show as Security>Apps from unknown sources. Newer models don’t have this feature and instead will ask you when you try to open the files you need to download.)

If you have the option, you will also need to Enable Apps from Unknown Sources for Silk browser.

Now you are ready to install the apps for the Google Play Store.

Step 2 - Download the Google Apps

Step 2 is to download the APK files for the Google Play Store.

You need four APK files:

1. Google Account Manager

2. Google Services Framework

3. Google Play Services

4. Google Play Store.

The first three APK files handle basic Google account services.

Unfortunately, different Kindle Fires have different versions of Android with different hardware, the exact APKs you need depends on the Kindle Fire model. To find out which model you have:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap Device Options & System (or Device Options)
  • Look under Device Model
  • the Fire OS version is listed in the System Updates menu of Device Options & System (or Device Options ).

Step 2.1 – Google Account Manager

To download the correct Google Account Manager for your Kindle Fire model, click your model and then tap the main Download APK button on the linked page. Do not open the file!

Step 2.4 – Google Play Store.

There is only one Google Play Store APK. Remember do not open the file!

Google Play Store (universal, nodpi)

Step 3 - Install the Apps

Step 3 is to install the APK files for the Google Play Store.

First you have to find where the APK files have been downloaded and then install the APK files in the correct orderr.

To find your device’s Downloads folder, open the Files on your tablet (on older models, it is called Docs or Documents), then select the triple-lined menu in the top-left, and there you can find where the APK files have been saved.

Open your Downloads folder and you should see all four APK files. If not, go back and see which one you missed.

Install the apps one by one in the below orderThe Play Store will not work if apps are installed out of order.

  • com.google.gsf. login
  • com.google.android. gsf
  • com.google.android. gms
  • com.android. vending

While installing these four apps one by one, you may see a warning about your personal data’s safety. Bypass these messages by hitting continue.

After installing the four apps, restart your tablet.

After your Kindle Fire has restarted, open the new Play Store app and sign into your Google account, after which you can download and install Learn with Emile.
